Shambles Carnival Club is based in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. We participate in the Somerset Guy Fawkes Carnival Circuit, which weaves around the streets of Bridgwater, Burnham, Weston Super Mare, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Wells, and finally Glastonbury. We also enter Midsomer Norton`s Carnival.

For those who do not know much about us, Shambles has always entered carnival as a tableau cart, but 2015 bought us new success as a feature club, so all singing and dancing now. This has enticed more membership of all ages, and the club is still growing.

So come and see what we are about, new members are always welcome.

As well as the obvious needing people to dance on the cart, building is a very important part of the club, so any one with artistic, model making, painting, electrical, metal and wood working skills are always needed. Please do not let this put you off as tea making and clearing up behind some of these messy workers is also a very important part, as well as fund raising, so if you would enjoy putting any of these skills into action come and join us, we are a friendly bunch and work as a team.

It is not all hard work and toil during the building season, we do find time to party and enjoy ourselves. After most of the Carnivals there is party laid on to celebrate a win or commiserate at not being so successful, but who cares, it is all fun.

We build on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, daytime Saturday. Committee Meetings first Sunday in the month at the Pilton Working mans club (winter) or Shed (summer), Shepton Mallet 7.00 pm. Minimum age 18 unless accompanied by an adult. (Please see Diary for meetings, fund raising and carnival dates)

2017 Fund Raising Events. These dates are very important for us, a cart does not just appear a few days before Bridgwater Carnival, it takes nearly all year to plan and raise the funds to build. We want a cart on the road to be proud of, will members please help when and where they can. A lot of events are all day, but a few hours to fit in with your day is fine. If you have children, bring them along, some of the fund raising are family days, so they can have fun as well. confirmation of times will be available nearer the event.Link to Diary
